We just protected Radio Liberty

The station that is already a Cultural Property of Local Interest (BCIL)

After a long struggle by Salvem la Platja de Pals, the Cercle Català d'Història, Gent del Ter, together with the City Council of Pals and all the municipal groups, the Consell Comarcal del Baix Empordà has approved this July 25 for unanimity of all political parties that Ràdio Liberty becomes a Cultural Property of Local Interest (BCIL), a declaration that establishes its protection and stops the State's decision to demolish all Ràdio Liberty buildings.

But let's not stop claiming the opportunity to make good use of the European Funds that the State had obtained to demolish the buildings and that they are now used to protect the space and conserve the buildings, to make use of them that makes them compatible the natural and historical values of Ràdio Liberty.

We celebrate the decision that we have fought so hard to catalog and protect Ràdio Liberty for its historical values, and at the same time we reiterate the need to create a Cold War Interpretation Center, which highlights Radio Liberty and the Natural Park and serve to investigate and really remember "what happened", cultivating the "culture of peace" so necessary today, and at the same time divulge the faunal, geological and floristic values of this special dune site.

We recommend that you read two articles on this blog so that you can expand the details and gain a better perspective of the impact that this station had on a global scale and especially for the population of Pals and the surrounding areas.
