A hopeful future for la playa de Pals

Your participation is decisive - summary 2022

We take a deep breath of satisfaction because this year we are also collecting successes. We have planted, watered and protected several wishes, the seeds of all those who appreciate Platja de Pals.

That is why we want to celebrate with you the triumph of a few challenges that we have achieved this year 2022:

15 TO 1 VICTORY TO PROTECT RADIO LIBERTY

We make it possible for the Ministry of Ecological Transition, Pals City Council and the Generalitat de Catalunya to agree to coordinate definitively to promote a project at Ràdio Liberty, drawing up a plan for its future, a few months after we managed to catalog it as BCIL (Cultural Asset of Local Interest), thanks to the coordinated effort with various entities such as the Cercle Català d'Història. > Know more.

WE AVOID 1,392 NEW HOUSING

Fighting side by side with SOS Costa Brava, we achieved the declassification of 1,392 second-home homes in the Rodors pine forests of Playa de Pals, thanks to the mobilization against and the approval of the Master Plan for unsustainable land on the Gironi coast. > Know more.

THE ANTI-COMPETITION THAT PROTECTS NATURE

Nature believes in the Gola del Ter, with our #ProtectorsDunars proposing various sports modalities in order to raise awareness about microplastics and species threats to Platja de Pals. > Know more.

A DEEPER EVALUATION OF THE IMPACT OF THE NORTH ROAD IS DEMANDED

With the support of different environmental organizations such as SOS Costa Brava or the Associació de Naturalistes de Girona, we inform you that the City Council of Pals approved the modification of the General Plan by subjecting it to a simplified environmental assessment. Consequently, the Catalan Water Agency, the Natural Park, the Biodiversity and Environment Section and the Department of Climate Action have opposed it, due to the serious environmental impact of this road on the Estany de Vernegar, the pine forests in Rodors Nord and the biological connector. > Know more.

INVASORS GO HOME

We enjoy great participation in organizing days to remove invasive exotic species that displace local flora and fauna, while we inform neighbors and communities of endemic species for gardening as an alternative that does not alter the environment. > Know more.

ALERT! BIODIVERSITY IS EXCHANGED FOR DEBRIS

After months of struggle, we have managed to stop the illegal dumping of more than 15,000 tons of stones and debris that are burying part of the Estany del Vernegar, a flood zone of great ecological, environmental, landscape and natural interest for its exceptional flora and fauna. > Know more.

WE CONTINUE AT THE FOOT OF THE CANYON

But the dangers remain. Right now we're looking at:

The 6 future new macro-urbanisations with 600 new homes in the pine forests on the dunes in Rodors and the Jonquers wetlands in Platja de Pals.

The possibility of building up to 6 wind farms in the sea along our Costa Brava with a serious impact on biodiversity.

We encourage you to continue supporting us to defend the area against the new dangers that are awakening on the horizon.
